New copy of Volvo

Mazda is proudly showing off their Shinari concept, a coop design between USA, Germany and Japan, it looks quite neat:

But, do you remember the 2007 SC90 concept? This is how that one looked:

Do you think they look alike?

The tragic Middle East

My knowledge of the Middle East conflict is too thin to have an opinion of whos right and not, I am just sad watching it year by year and how people are capable of ruining others life.

They say it is important to know your history so tragic events won’t happen again, but I don’t believe in that. We manage to do it anyways.

In 1947 a ship with holocaust survivors tried to break the British Palestine blockade, it were borded by British soldiers and 3 got killed. In 1973 BBC created a documentary of the incident, here it is:

Norway in a nutshell

Foto: Espen Braata, VG

Since May 1st this year emergency cars in Norway need a taxi permit. The taxi-organizations demanded this because “hey – they are driving people around and charge them”. Isn’t it incredible? This is Norway in a nutshell – we laugh at other countries’ bureaucracy but we’re not better. The doctors visiting people have complained and want to stay clear of this rule, the application will be either accepted or denied this week.

If its not accepted I am worried how Norway will turn out to live in the next years.. Will the fire department and police need a taxi permit as well in the future?

I also read that every 5th student in 9th grade here in Bergen cannot read! And that is ethnic Norwegians, I wonder how the total is. Isn’t Norway great!?

A time traveller?

Can you spot him?

The photo is to be seen at the Bralorne-Pioneer-museum, link here

I find it amusing since they have the photo on “display”, but who know – is it an early hipster?

Driving in Bergen ep2 – roundabouts

After a few incidents I’ve started to record my driving – I see a lot of fun and tragic stuff. This for instance is something I see every day:

Silly car owners

Many silly drivers out there today, there is snowchaos in Norway today and lots of people get into trouble. In my opinion theres no wonder why, as long as there are silly people like this one out there:

Inventing the wheel again

Sometimes I wonder what on earth we’re doing when inventing new stuff. In so many cases it has been done before – either thousands of years ago or just a century or two.

Today I read about the Eko Stoplight by Damjan Stanković and the first thing that came to my mind was Charles Marshall’s invention from 1936(!). Check it out here:

Marshalite

Ofcourse the Eko Stoplight is cooler but… Why do we have to keep reinventing stuff instead of using the knowledge to evolve ourself?

Here is the Eko Light:

24k Euro found on tram

Last Saturday someone forgot their 24k Euro on a tram in Oslo. Now the police have them for analysis. It reminds me of the lady in Sweden who forgot a lot of money, I wrote about it here.

I’m not going to setup a poll this time, I just want to mention that VG (a large newspaper in Norway) asks these questions in a poll; deliver it to the tram-driver, keep the money or give them to charity. Isn’t that a weird set of options?

What do you think it misses?

I think it misses “deliver them to the police”.

In VG’s poll people are choosing “keep the money”, I would do the same if I had the same options. :)

Though to be honest I would have chosen to keep them for myself then I would visit the police and deliver them there. I wouldn’t give it to the driver.

The pocket man in trial

The “Pocket man” in Norway is in trial for molesting hundreds of children. Its a guy from my area and I hope he get life in prison. (sadly this mean 9 to 15 years in prison here in Norway)

This is one of his pants that he was wearing when he asked kids to pick up stuff from his pockets. Lets just say that noone would expect what they touched down there. Sick man.

Polls between elections

I’ve had it with polls between elections. We’ve just had an election and now media is starting with polls allready, 4 years until next election.

What is the point? We cannot throw out our government because of lousy numbers in a poll, people doesn’t care. Argh… I hate polls like that.

I wish they wrote about the hundreds of schools Norway is loosing these days – thousands of children have to move to other schools, meny of them have to walk dangerous unlit roads to their new school. Hooray for Norway. I wish Michael Moore would do another documentary; because his documentary about Norway is forgery – he should update his knowledge about Norway. Can someone tell him please?

Media fired Peter Mueller – Norways skating coach

Norway axes Peter Mueller, the coach for our national speedskating team. He said “you’re a discrase to Norwegian speedskating” to a girl. The media in Norway pushed this case to the limit and I bet that without the media hysteria Peter would still have his job. But I bet people will beg him to come back.

Two persons arrested for ruining Gingerbread city

Two persons (21 and 26 years old) have now been arrested and charged by the police. I bet they had a lot of fun while crushing the city but not anymore. I guess we’ll never get the names of the ones who did it, but I think that is for the best.

They haven’t done anything deadly serious, like many other do every day so I guess they’ll only be charged for vandalism. But I have a feeling their family will hate them for a while.

Our Bishop in our county asks people to calm down and not lynch them. I am wondering when the King of Norway will make a statement.

To draw pixel by pixel can be fun sometimes, how about doing it with tiles for the shower?

Iran’s days are counted

Now that Iran is soon being bombed by USA and Israel I remembered this one, maybe it can be used to calm people who fear nuclear holocaust?
