Spring is not ready yet

Norwegian Prime Minister bought iPad

All flights has been canceled in Norway due to the volcano eruption on Iceland and our Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg is stuck in New York. Poor guy, but look what he have bought! I wonder if he can bring it back to Norway – according to Israel the iPad is transmitting too high wifi levels.. Ref: Haaretz in Israel

The iPad is coming to Norway in the end of July, I think it will be a success here. – Update: It hasn’t been made available yet, what is the problem?

Apple approved the Opera browser!

Most people didn’t believe Apple would approve the Opera browser from Norway but last night they did! I was certain it would be, because I don’t think it will be a competitor to the iPhone’s Safari browser. Why? Because webpages are rendered on Opera’s servers and therefore the javascript and ajax functionality won’t be as good as Safari’s. I wish it could be possible to turn off this function, I don’t like that my webtraffic is going through a 3rd party.

I also dislike the zoom function and how it behaves when I tilt my phone to landscape, it doesn’t re-render the page. Oh well, it is exciting but I think they have to do a little more effort to be acknowledged by the iPhone-people. Heres how it looks:

It loads fast, but without javascript I think it is useless.

On html5test.com Opera received a score of 14 of 160 possible:

When music gives me the chills

I’m always on the lookout for moments that gives me the chills, you know – the ones that comes when you’re not expecting it. Especially in the “… got talent”-concept. The other day I found one that gave me multiple chills. A 38 year old man sings in Sweden’s version “Talang” (Talent). He presents himself and say that he comes from Norway. ….WHAT? Awesome I thought, is it a joke or something? Norway and Sweden are like bitter neighbors, we always compete and try to be the best ones. He explains that hes a Norwegian living in Stockholm and that his dreams are getting famous and going on world tours, earning money etc and that hes a tenor.

He seem to be a nice guy and hes a Norwegian in the Sweden got talent show, and hes being warmly welcomed. 1 Chill. When he start to sing another chill arrives, hes a great singer! The judges’ reaction is awesome, people rise and cheers. Another chill. He sings so great that one of the judges start to cry, the well known Bert Karlsson starts to cry, another chill. Hes a entrepreneur, publisher, writer, debater, program leader, publisher director etc and many known artists can thank Bert for their career. Seeing Bert’s reaction is awesome. The judges are so impressed that they ask him to sing another one, then he sing a Norwegian song in Swedish. I just sit and enjoy the show.

Her is the Norwegian Stephen Brandt-Hansen in Sweden’s Talang:

After this incident it has come in the open that Stephen is a performer and is well known. Well, I didn’t know him and I don’t think hes a celebrity. The media writes about “Swedish people boils of anger” because of this. But I just read that the Talang invited him so I don’t think he has do defend himself. Hes got talent! I bet this irritates a lot of Swedes, and I have to admit that I think it is a bit funny..

What do you think?

A trip to Austevoll

Last Saturday my little one and I took the ferry out to our hut on Austevoll, I was going to help my father installing a new door. We were lucky with the weather, for the first time this year I felt the spring coming. I never get tired of the view from the hut.

Not many flowers yet, I hope to see more very soon.

Why Apple wins

No matter how proprietary Apple’s systems can be they win. Most people don’t mind that they can run better software on the hardware, like Opera for instance, they just love Apple products. The iPad is warmly written about in Norway and people order American versions with no support for Norwegian letters, video rental or access to full Apple store – but they don’t care. Why is it like that?

Apple create neat stuff, its as simple as that. Even the strongest Apple-hater loves the iPhone and iPad but they won’t admit it. Its like the vegetarians who sneak to McDonald’s for a snack.

And because people who love Apple create fun accessories, like this one for instance:

I can’t believe I fell for an April 1st fool, I found this today and thought it was real. Embarrasing…

I saw this at ThinkGeek, no wonder iPad will be extremely popular.

Here is a guy who setup his iPad in his car, fun!

I had to look twice

I struggle with irritated eyes these days because of pollen allergy and today I had to look twice at something I saw outside work. Can you see it? :)

We are expecting moderate spread of Alnus and Corylus avellana tomorrow but I think it a day or two earlier. They say cold weather gives lots of pollen, and this time we’ve had a long and cold winter..

Are you affected?

Today we walked down to Grønskjæret and relaxed near the ocean. We’re looking forward to use this place soon when it gets warmer. Its awesome to have such a place just a few minutes away.

A trip to the Fløy-mountain

We’ve had a great day today, each easter we take this trip and relax at Fløy mountain – go treasurehunting, eat food and relax.

This year we decided to make pancakes up there. Tasty! :)

The waters were still covered with ice, but I guess it wont last long now till its gone.

Its good to see the flowers are coming up, I am getting impatient now for the spring.

Cozy place to relax.

Its getting greener! :)

A time traveller?

Can you spot him?

The photo is to be seen at the Bralorne-Pioneer-museum, link here

I find it amusing since they have the photo on “display”, but who know – is it an early hipster?

A bussy day

I decided to take the bus today because my better half and the prince in the house wanted to go to the cinema to watch “How to Train Your Dragon”. I wished I could join them but I have to work while the rest has started the easter holiday. Oh well..

I hate bus-schedules because I always misread them so I always walk to the nearest bus-stop and wait. I have to take 2 buses to work, I kind of looked forward to it – its nice to sit there listen to music or a book while watching the scenery pass by. The express bus to the city center came after 2 minutes – perfect timing. But at the city center I had to wait for almost one and a half hour – they have an easter-schedule! I didn’t think of that since I felt like it was an ordinary work-day. It finally came and I made it to lunch. The shot I took is by the new tram-system we have here in Bergen, it opens soon – I look forward to test it.

I’ve fetched an easter-schedule now so I can plan my way home a little better.

Geek Monday – A 22 megapixel display wall

This was amazing, a camera based multi-touch interface. Check out when they look at the gigapixel shot taken by Eirik Helland:
