    I’ve activated Do Follow today, its going to be exciting to see how it works. I am doing it do award my commenters, and of course its a part of my study – on what makes things tick.

    I downloaded the «Do Follow» plugin from Denis de Bernardy, it removes the rel=nofollow from comments. Then I activated the plugin. I downloaded an image from Randa Clay as well, to identify that the nofollow tag is gone.

    Jeg har aktivert Do Follow i dag, det skal bli spennende å se hvordan det fungerer. Jeg gjør det for å gi honnør til de som kommenterer, og fordi jeg synes slike ting er spennende – å lære hvordan ting fungerer.

    Jeg lastet ned Do Follow plugin fra Denis de Bernardy, den fjerner tags som rel=nofollow fra kommentarer. Deretter aktiverte jeg plugin og lastet ned et bilde fra Randa Clay for å vise at nofollow tags er fjernet.

    To be honest to you, I am flattered when people comment my posts. That way I know that I am not only posting for myself – someone reads my stuff and comments widen my horizon. I love comments.

    Before Akismet, Defensio and other antispam systems Google had to implement the nofollow tag, it was just silly for them to index all the junk, but among them was the real comments, kind of victims of spam.

    Now that we don’t let spam out, I wonder if its time to let the comments get rewarded again, kind of saying thank you for commenting me. If I remove the nofollow tag your site will be linked from my blog and search engines will embed that link in the system, like any other link.

    The Do Follow «riot» is appearing on more and more sites, you can even submit your blog if you remove the nofollow tags. Check out Blogs that follow, Do Follow List, Do Follow Directory etc.

    One thing I am specially curious about is how people are going to react to this. Are people going to comment just to get linked? I «think green» and hope that people will continue as before and just be intrigued by the new bonus.

    BTW there are a few great plugins for WordPress to remove the nofollow tags, like Do Follow 4.0 by Kimmo Suominen and Semiologic’s Dofollow.

    For å si det ærlig så blir jeg kjempeglad når folk legger igjen kommentarer her. På den måten vet jeg at jeg ikke bare poster for meg selv – men at noen leser det jeg skriver. Og jeg lærer en masse av kommentarene. Jeg elsker kommentarer.

    Før Akismet, Defensio og andre antispam systemer så måtte Google implementere nofollow tag for å forhindre at all spam’en ble indeksert og tatt med i det totale søkesystemet. Det ble bare tull når de tok med all spam’en. Men blandt alle kommentarene var de reelle, de ble ofre pga spam.

    Nå som vi har kontroll på spam, lurer jeg på om det er på tide å belønne og si takk til de som kommenterer. Om jeg fjerner nofollow tag’en så blir din blog/webside linket fra min blog på samme måte som alle andre linker, dermed vil søkemotorene bli tatt med i indekseringen.

    Do Follow dukker opp flere og flere steder, du kan tilogmed legge inn bloggen din på steder som samler alle blog’er som har fjernet nofollow tags. Sjekk ut feks : Blogs that follow, Do Follow List, Do Follow Directory etc.

    Jeg er veldig nysgjerrig på hvordan folk vil reagere på dette, om mange begynner å kommentere bare for å bli linket til. Jeg velger å tenke «grønt» og håper folk vil fortsette som før, bare med et ekstra stor smil pga bonusen.

    Det finnes forresten ett par gode (sikkert flere) WordPress plugins som fjerner nofollow tags, Do Follow 4.0 av Kimmo Suominen og Semiologics Dofollow.

    I’m not sure if you noticed but I messed up my blog a few times today with some javascripts. I wanted tabs on my sidebar and hunted for a plugin since Domtab directly messed up my page. I must have done something wrong.

    Anyway, after testing dosens of scripts I ended up using one from Javascript, it loads swiftly compared to others and it was easy to maintain. (if you’re not rusty like me in css)

    The script I found is made by Ilya S. Lyubinskiy, a great programmer, its worth a visit.

    I am not happy about my design of this, so if you have any comments I will be grateful. I am not a designer and I don’t want to ruin this theme completely..

    Jeg er ikke sikker på om du la merke til det i dag men jeg rotet bloggen min til noen ganger i dag med noen javascripts. Jeg ville absolutt ha tabs på sidemenyen min og jaktet på en plugin siden jeg ikke fikk til Domtab – jeg må ha gjort noe galt.

    Uansett.. Etter å ha testet et dusin med scripts endte jeg opp med et fra Javascript, det laster seg inn raskt og greit i forhold til andre og det er lett å endre på utseende. (Om man ikke er like rusten som meg i css)

    Scriptet jeg fant er laget av Ilya S. Lyubinskiy, en kjempeflink programmerer, som er verdt å besøke.

    Jeg er ikke helt fornøyd med utseende på tab’en min, derfor blir jeg takknemmelig om du har noen tips til meg. Jeg er ingen designer og har ikke lyst til å ødelegge denne templaten totalt..

    A new system is at works, RSSHugger, an exciting project by Colin Lahay. And ofcourse I have to try that one as well. It looks great and the concept is fun, I wont stand a chance to the big ones but the blog-adventurer I am these days I cant let this go past me. You can either pay $20 or write a post like this to get enlisted. I would write about this anyway so… Right now there is 676 feeds registered, its going to be fun to follow up this service. Det er supert ut og selve konseptet er artig, jeg har ikke en sjanse mot de store men blog-eventyreren jeg er for tiden så kan jeg ikke la en slik sjanse gå i fra meg.     When you sign up and add your blogs and sites the idea is to get quality backlinks to your sites. This will help you improve your position on Search engines, as well as influencing traffic. To achieve this you have to submit posts or rate others posts. The more you do this the more Qassia backlink. The stuff you submit can be anything, it is called intel. The intel is searchable.

    Når du registrerer deg og legger til blogger og websider er tanken bak dette at du får kvalitetslinker til sidene dine. Dette vil bedre dine posisjoner i søkemotorene på nettet, i tillegg til å påvirke trafikkmengden. For å oppnå dette kan du poste ting eller gi andre karakter på det de har postet. Jo mer du gjør dette jo flere backlinker får du. Man kan poste alt mulig, det kalles intel og dette blir søkbart.

    [lang_nb-no]Tidligere i dag ble Leon reddet av Norsk Luftambulanse. De skulle egentlig trene i dag men da de hørte om Leon så bestemte de seg for å trene i fjellhyllen hvor Leon befant seg. Fantastisk.

    [lang_en]leonOn New Year’s Eve around 15:30 the dog Leon got scared by a rocket and ran off. He even climbed a fence. His Owners yelled for hours and on tuesday they heard barking from the mountain side. They couldn’t localize him but suddenly a neighbour sighted Leon on a mountainshelf about 350 meter above. The difficult mountainside prohibit them to rescue Leon and now their only hope is help from the Norwegian Air Ambulance.

    But this is expencive and the owners will try to start a collect, if not – they are willing to sell their house to rescue him.

    Isn’t this sad? Next year it wont be allowed to send up rockets in Norway but we are still allowed to fire up base fireworks. Which in my opinion is worse than rockets.

    What irritates me more is the stupid *ducks* base jumpers who get rescued for free each time they land on a shelf. [/lang_en]
    [lang_nb-no]LeonI syv dager nå har lille Leon vært borte etter at han ble skremt av raketter på nyttårsaften.

    Nå hører de bjeffing fra en fjellhylle over Myklebust i Oldedalen (Stryn). Fjellhyllen ligger på rundt 350 meter over havet men terrenget er for vanskelig til å komme seg opp til Leon.

    Nå håper de å få hjelp fra Luftambulansen. Eierne vil prøve kronerulling men selger gjerne huset for å redde hunden.

Located in an old tobacco factory just outside Montreal in Canada the small group is going to change our world in small but important ways. Looking at what Balez, Lopez and Mercier has been doing lately I bet we’re going to see more interesting stuff from these guys.

    Defensio is easily installed in WordPress, latest version 2.3.1 of WordPress works fine with Defensio. Remeber to Deactivate Akismet. I stumbled upon Defensio because I had problem running Akismet on WordPress 2.3.1.

    With Defensio we also get fancy statistics like this :

Lokalisert i i en gammel tobakk-fabrikk like utenfor Montreal i Kanada skal den lille gruppen endre vår verden i små men viktige steg. Om man ser på hva Balez, Lopez and Mercier har gjort på i det siste så skal det bli spennende å se hva som kommer neste gang fra disse.

    Det er lett å installere Defensio i WordPress, siste versjon 2.3.1 av WordPress fungerer fint med Defensio. Husk å deaktivere Akismet. Jeg snublet over Defensio fordi jeg ikke fikk Akismet til å virke med WordPress 3.2.1..

    Med Defensio får vi også fancy grafisk statistikk som feks dette :

  • PS3 and distributed computing

    Its exciting to see that the number of PS3 clients on Folding@Home is increasing. A few in europe has activated their clients, but since its release day in europe I bet that most of the new owners want to test their games first.

    At this moment 11172 PS3 CPUs has been registered at Standford, the stats were updated 11:45 today. Together, the PS3 CPUs reports a total of 251 TFlops, not bad. I’m a bit curious about the fact that 172532 reported CPUs using Windows report a total of 151 TFlops. Hmmm

    I bet the number is 50000 next monday.
