    [lang_en]I’m so excited, Prince is coming to my hometown Bergen this year! October 18 and the funny part is that its only a few kilometers away. I hope I get the chance to go, its been so long since I last went to his concert. That was in 1988, the LoveSexy tour.

    I was only 17 then, I remember a few buddies and I took the train to Oslo and Valle Hovin – it was an awesome concert. I especially remember when he entered the stage in a Corvette, and when he played Purple Rain the purple light colored the rain above us and made a great athmosphere.

    I also remember that I fell in love with Sheila E., the drummer. 🙂

    The return home was a nightmare though, we missed the train back and we didn’t have money to spend the night at a hotel. We tried to sleep at the train station but we were kicked out so we found a spot outside to sit through the night. Lets just say it wasn’t a nice experience.

    Its kind of fun that he choose Bergen before Oslo. 🙂 Finally.[/lang_en][lang_nb-no]Tenk at Prince kommer til Bergen 18. oktober! Og til Vestlandshallen, det er jo bare noen få kilometer unna – utrolig gøy, håper jeg får sjansen til å få den med meg. Sist jeg var på Prince konsert var i 1988 på Valle Hovin med noen kamerater – LoveSexy! Det var en stor opplevelse, vi tok toget til Oslo fra Bergen og møtte opp i god tid. Jeg husker vi fikk plass langt fremme men når konserten begynte så havnet vi heldigvis litt lenger bak – den gang var den en del som besvimte og måtte bli båret ut. Konserten åpnet med at Prince kom inn på scenen på en Corvette – en stor konsert var i gang. Og på slutten når han spilte Purple Rain lyste lille lyskastere utover publikum, siden det musk-regnet var alt rundt oss lilla.

    Reisen tilbake var et mareritt, vi rakk ikke toget tilbake så vi la oss til å sove på Oslo S., men der ble vi raskt kastet ut så da fikk vi oppleve hvordan det er å være husløs i Oslo. Det var ikke noe særlig for en liten gjeng med 17-åringer. Men vi overlevde og kom oss hjem.

    Husker det var stort da vi fikk tak i The Black Album – det var tider det!

The mountain is Løvstakken – one of our 7 mountains surrounding our city. The mountain in the left background is Rundemannen. I tried a HDR app this time to see how it worked – this is the result.

    Its also fun to see how the tree limit has climbed, the whole mountain is soon covered.

En gang må jeg få til å samle dem – jeg elsker å sammenligne utviklingen. Denne gangen prøvde jeg en app for HDR-bilder, dette ble resultatet:

    Legg merke til tregrensen, den har trukket seg godt opp i fjellet – morsomt å se. Løvås Gård er med på begge bildene også.

    I’ve always concidered VG as an Oslo-paper so its fun to suddenly see two articles on one day.

We sat down at the Sailor’s monument eating buns and drinking coffee.

    Then suddenly..

    A young lady in a bachelor party, she had to paddle a few rounds around the monument. 🙂

    Its awesome when they figure out fun stuff like this, instead of making a fool out of them.

    En ung dame i utdrikningslag, hun måtte paddle noen runder. Artig påfunn! 🙂

    Det er herlig når man finner på slike fine ting, i stedet for å drite ut folk.

I look forward to the extension of the line, I want it now!

    A few problems though but that is just some minor glitches, the ticket-line became too long so an employee decided to let us onto the tram without paying, oh well.

    I think many train and tram-enthusiasts enjoy themselves these days, we met a lot of tourists as well.

    Dinner at Nesttun and Peppes Pizza.

    I always take some shots of Peppes’ walls, they have lots of interesting stuff there.

    I bet our light-rail system will be a success but I didn’t like the payment system. You have to buy tickets at a booth, only with period-cards you can enter the tram directly, there is no way to pay once inside. I think that is a bit old fashion.

Litt kluss med billett-systemet så vi fikk reise gratis begge veier. Noen innkjøringsproblemer må de få lov å ha. Strekningen Sentrum – Nesttun har blitt kjempeflott, det har rett og slett blomstret opp langs Bybanens linje.

    Da vi skulle kjøpe billett var køen så lang at vi ikke kom til å rekke den, til slutt kom en Bybaneansatt og vinket oss inn på trikken uten å betale.

    Tipper det er en del trikk og tog-entusiaster som gleder seg i disse dager.

    På Nesttun slappet vi av i gågaten, der var det mange spennende boder med varer fra Nederland, Frankrike, England etc. Så tok vi middagen på Peppes, der var det ganske tragisk, jeg tror ikke de ansatte var vant til mennesker der.

    Alltid like spennende å se på hva de forskjellige Peppesavdelingene har hengt opp, på Nesttun har de dette:

    Bybanen kommer nok til å bli en suksess, men de må gjøre noe drastisk med betalingssystemet. Det er for dumt at man må gå i en billettautomat på motsatt side av sporet selv om man har et påfylt Skyss-kort. Man burde gått for et system som ikke er fra 1980-tallet. Men men, de måtte vel spare penger på den biten og kjøpe det billigste systemet de fant i Europa. Men dette er bagateller, jeg er kjempeglad i Bybanen alle rede og vil ha den over alt.

    In January 2008 they started building the long awaited Bybanen (Light-rail) in my city (Bergen in Norway) and tomorrow its opening! This is phase 1 which is about 10 kilometer, I think they are starting next phase this autumn. I hope it will reduce the car usage-here. Our Queen will be opening it tomorrow around noon.

    Our local newspaper BA (Bergensavisen) joined a ride and filmed it, its worth a check – I think it will be popular among tourists as well. They don’t have any embed-code so I had to include the link. (Its SFW and no ads) The music they’ve used is from local bands.

    I morgen åpner endelig Bybanen i Bergen, det blir spennende å se hvordan det går – de har jo hatt sine utfordringer i det siste. Vi krysser fingrene!

I love the view up there. Lyderhorn was a gathering location for witches on Midsummer night, Valborg night, and at Christmas.
